The Exit 8: Escape from a Japanese Subway Station
Developer KOTAKE CREATE recently announced the game ‘The Exit 8,’ set to be released sometime in November and will be available in English.
The Exit 8: Escape from a Japanese Subway Station
In The Exit 8, you find yourself trapped in an apparently endless underground passage of a subway station. As you attempt to escape, the same view seems to repeat indefinitely. You need to carefully analyze the environment and find a way out.
It seems that as you progress through the passage, ‘anomalies’ will appear. If you notice an anomaly, you must immediately turn back. On the other hand, if there is no anomaly, you should continue walking without looking back. Players seem to have to stay alert to anything that seems strange around them!
The game’s underground passage is modeled after the passages connecting subway stations in Japan, with white tiled floors and walls, neon lights, and signs being very typical of what you would actually see in a Japanese subway.
The Exit 8 is also inspired by creepypasta and liminal spaces like ‘The Backrooms.’ While the game is officially listed as a walking simulator, backstage elements and the rather unsettling atmosphere in the trailer also hint at some horror elements.
That’s The Exit 8! If you’re interested, you can add it to your wishlist here.
