On the same day, Bocchi the Rock! producer Shouta Umehara revealed that there were no initial plans for the anime to have a second season. He posted the following on his official profile:

“In reality, there were no plans for a second season of Bocchi the Rock!, but thanks to everyone’s continued support and the money you invested, we managed to make it happen. Moreover, the members of Kessoku Band and the people around the project, including Aniplex, are truly wonderful, which made me want to give it my all. Thank you so much!”

He continued, sharing more behind-the-scenes details, including the uncertainty among the anime staff about whether a second season would actually happen. He said:

“As for the original author, Hamaji Aki, at the afterparty for the movie, they casually said something like, ‘Maybe the continuation will be made at another studio?’ Meanwhile, editor Sekoguchi was completely drunk and passed out. So I started wondering… can I really bet my life on this project…?”
