This whole story started when on October 19th, Daisuke Sakuma went live on the YouTube channel “After School GAMING LIFE.” During the live stream, a notification from an online friend appeared in the corner of the screen.
You know how some games or services show a notification when a friend comes online or starts a game, right? That’s all that happened, but people looked at the username that appeared in the notification, and this situation quickly turned into a rumor that the person in the notification was Suisei.
“At that moment, Sakuma hurriedly stopped the game, got up, and left the frame while muttering mysterious words like ‘Oh…’
Only the chair was visible, along with Sakuma’s ‘Wait…’ All I could hear was a voice saying, ‘Hey, who’s this…?’ He was clearly upset, and the game screen disappeared with a ‘click’ sound. After several minutes of silence, he stopped the stream.
When Sakuma returned to playing, he apologized to the viewers and said, ‘I’m sorry. I was having some issues. Please don’t apologize to me.’ From there, he became engrossed in the ‘Suika Game’ as if nothing had happened.”
What evolved from “Daisuke and Suisei are dating” to “Daisuke and Suisei are married and living together.” Suisei addressed the situation during a live stream on her YouTube channel and denied having a romantic relationship with Daisuke (he also denied it on his blog, stating that they are just friends who play games together).
What was most remarkable was that during this live stream, Suisei taught her viewers how internet rumors work and why it’s essential to avoid spreading them.
She explained that it’s easy to spread gossip on the Internet and challenging to listen to negative voices, so it’s crucial to check the source and authenticity of information before sharing it.
“Fans” Unsubscribe and Begin Selling Her Products
As Aqua mentioned in episode 7 of “Oshi no Ko,” an online controversy never truly disappears, even after the truth is revealed, and all parties have explained everything. Some people will always remain unaware of the truth.
After the controversy, it’s being shared on the internet that some fans have unsubscribed from Suisei’s channel due to the rumors about her being married.
According to what is circulating on the Japanese web, Suisei had 2,019,383 subscribers on her channel:
After the controversy started, her channel dropped to 2,018,024 subscribers, a decrease of over 1,000 subscribers. I can’t confirm this because I don’t have access to the data.
