Pokémon TCG: Player Eats Opponent’s Card in Attempt to Win the game
Pokémon is a huge franchise with various products, including the traditional games and the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), which has serious tournaments worldwide. A story from a tournament at the end of 2023 has gone viral online.
I don’t understand much about Pokémon TCG rules, but let’s see what the PyppyDuels account reported in September 2023. They said, “Someone at this championship just ate their opponent’s Lost Vacuum and called a judge for a deck check!” Lost Vacuum is one of the many cards in Pokémon TCG.

To explain for those who don’t play and aren’t familiar with the game’s rules, PuppyDuels detailed how the rules work:
“In Pokémon TCG, there are local tournaments known as League Cups that earn you points to qualify for the World Championship, so they are held to a higher standard than normal local play. One of these standards is having a decklist submitted before the tournament. If you have an invalid decklist (wrong cards, missing cards, etc.), you can get a penalty, such as a game loss.
The individual ate one of their opponent’s cards to make their deck not match the submitted decklist. When a judge checks the deck, it will appear wrong (missing a card) and result in a game loss.”
Basically, what this person did was eat their opponent’s card and call a judge, who would then see that the opponent’s deck did not match the submitted decklist, causing a game loss.
However, nothing was ultimately done. He was going to be disqualified, but since he lost the match anyway, the judges didn’t take any further action. According to PuppyDuels, the person who ate the card was constantly going to the bathroom.
What a story!
