One Piece 1071 Receives Multiple Negative Ratings
Before the premiere of One Piece episode 1071, which features Luffy’s transformation into Gear 5, a fan of Attack on Titan posted on Twitter that they had created over 300 email accounts to give the episode a rating of 1.
There were various reactions to this action they were taking, but let’s see if it had any effect and how the episode’s ratings are faring.
One Piece 1071 Receives Multiple Negative Ratings
Upon visiting the IMDB website, a platform that allows users to rate individual episodes of anime and series, we can observe that episode 1071, the Gear 5 episode, has received over 50,000 ratings, ranging from a scale of 1 to 10.
At the time of this post, the episode 1071 has a rating of 9.1. Out of the 50,000 ratings, it has received 44,000 perfect 10 ratings. As for the promised 1 ratings? Perhaps the Attack on Titan fan should have created more email accounts, as there are currently 3,100 ratings of 1.
I became curious to read some of the negative reviews that the episode had received and stumbled upon some intriguing comments.
Ratings of 1:
“Why, why Tom and Jerry? I used to be a huge fan of One Piece, from the very first episode, but I can’t continue anymore; it’s becoming even more childish. I’m 37 years old, and while I’ve been watching this series until now, if it’s turning into a 20-year-old anime, I’ll leave it for my kids. It’s really sad because I’ll miss Zoro, I hope he becomes the Pirate King.”
“In my opinion, the referenced episode could be considered the most disappointing or unsatisfactory in the One Piece series. It emits a vibe more similar to an American cartoon than to the essence of what One Piece truly embodies. Instead of focusing on the highly anticipated Gear 5 revelation, the episode resorts to unnecessary flashbacks, rendering it essentially devoid of any meaningful purpose. This decision only serves to prolong the episode and, consequently, our anticipation. Truly makes it not worth watching One Piece anymore. Thanks, studio, for this poor outcome.
“The transformation is extremely silly and disappointing overall; it has nothing on Super Saiyan 1, 2, or 3. It even makes the scene and episode of the Super Saiyan God transformation look good. Yes, it’s a more light-hearted anime, but it’s still disappointing, not to mention the pacing is terrible. The same scene was shown twice, and two flashbacks were shown, one in slow motion, literally from the previous episode.”
“This episode ruined the character Luffy; now it’s like Looney Tunes. Ten years of development, making fun of it. This insanity is on the same level as She-Hulk twerking for Marvel fans.”
“Firstly, I dislike the animation style. It looks like an eight-year-old’s cartoon and is not as impressive as the hype suggests. It feels like a waste of time, money, and our emotions. Therefore, in my view, it falls short of my expectations, as I watched it in the cinema. My friends are disappointed too.”
Will One Piece’s Gear 5 episode continue to generate more negative ratings like these?
