Reactions to the Sound Effects in One Piece 1071

Let’s check out some reactions to the sound effects in One Piece 1071. Episode 1071 of One Piece has aired, and many fans have reacted to Luffy’s Gear 5, but more than the story, transformation, and fight, what also surprised many was how the animation was done.

Sound effects worthy of an American animated show, eyes popping out of the body, among other things, ended up in this battle between Luffy and Kaido.

Reactions to the Sound Effects in One Piece 1071

Shared as a clip on Twitter, the post has garnered over 4 million views, and you’ll understand why if you watch the excerpt below:

So, what did you think of the animation, the fight, but most importantly, the sound effects in One Piece 1071? I don’t watch One Piece, but if the anime was known for having these types of sound effects, I guess I would know? I’m not sure if it’s something that always happens when Luffy undergoes his transformations, but I found it cool and different.

Let’s read some reactions?

“This is amazing, man. There are some people who didn’t get it, but this is NOT the status quo of One Piece. This villain (Kaido) has been established as a SERIOUS threat. And now this guy is getting a beating from Crazy Woodpecker, complete with SFX. I’ve been grinning for HOURS watching this.”

“Gear 5 is one of the most ingenious transformations in shonen manga. Oda, as always, subverts the idea of dark edgy and makes one of the strongest powers in his work based on the RIDICULOUS! And there are supposed One Piece fans who STILL don’t understand the author’s unique style.”

“So this Gear 5 thing for Luffy is literally just turning into a cartoon character with sound effects and all?”

“What a crappy thing.”

“These guys broke Crunchyroll to watch Ed, Edd n Eddy.”

“You guys are hyping up something that’s a mix of SpongeBob + Looney Tunes? LOL”

“It’s so cheesy but so watchable at the same time. The purpose is to be goofy, but since I can’t stand One Piece, it’s just bad for me.”

“You can say all you want that One Piece is bad, but you have to agree that this animated scene is insanely AMAZING and PERFECTLY ANIMATED, damn.”

“The animation in the fight is really hype, but this transformation is kind of meh, you have to be a huge fanboy to put it on the same shelf as the best ones.”

“One Piece really breaks the paradigms. In a fight against one of the greatest villains in the work, any other author would establish a tense atmosphere, everyone waiting for a ‘Super Saiyan,’ and Oda delivers a Toon Force. One Piece is incredible…”

“Can someone explain to me what Gear 5 is and why Luffy is fighting? I don’t watch One Piece, but this is the most incredible piece of animation I’ve seen in years, and I want to know the events that led to this.”

And someone replied to our friend above, for those who don’t watch One Piece (like me) and want context. Luffy lost a fight against Kaido (who is this dragon), and then he awakened Gear 5, which is basically his rubber power.

So, what did you think of this animation?
