Man arrested for stalking Idol Uta Kawase
Yet another case of Stalker. Tokyo police arrested a 34-year-old man in Tokyo’s Toshima Ward on July 20 on charges of allegedly stalking idol Uta Kawase, an idol member of the 22/7 idol project. The suspect admitted the charge.
According to Toshima Mejiro Police Station Police, the suspect allegedly followed idol Uta Kawase three times between June 14 and 18, following her to her home and workplace and to nearby train stations, taking pictures and her videos.
Police were reportedly investigating the suspect for an entirely different incident, but found photos and videos of Kawase on the suspect’s cell phone.

Kawase, who plays the character Nicole Saito in the group 22/7, went on a brief hiatus starting June 22nd due to her being harassed near her home and place of work since mid-June. She reported the harassment to the police.
The project’s website noted that while Kawase suffered no physical harm, she is dealing with major mental trauma. Due to his hiatus, Kawase will not be able to attend the group’s ”Nananiji Natsu Matsuri 2023” concert tour, which is scheduled for July.
