Japan’s Digital Affairs Minister goes viral for using normal stairs instead of escalators
Are you also one of those who use normal stairs instead of escalators like Japan’s Digital Affairs Minister? In a way, they are faster, allowing you to get to the desired location right away, right?
On Wednesday, Japanese Prime Minister Fumiko Kishida selected new nominees as foreign and defense ministers. After the cabinet remodeling, those responsible met at the Imperial Palace for a commemorative ceremony and a group photo, but it was a different photo that ended up going viral.

After the ceremony concluded, a long line of cabinet members climbed into an elevator that transported them toward the exit. But as more than a dozen of Japan’s top politicians relied on machines to transport them to the second floor, one man rejected such transportation and preferred the standard stairs.
And who is this man? Precisely Japan’s Minister of Digital Affairs, Taro Kono.

This image received comments like:
”He is the Digital Minister, but choose analogue!”
”Many politicians are quite old, so it’s probably difficult for them to climb a flight of stairs. Is this Kono’s way of showing that she’s still young and full of energy?”
”It looks like some kind of political cartoon”
”Taro, following your own path”
”Maybe he really likes the soft feel of the carpet?”
”The black of your suit really stands out really well on the red carpet.”
”I would choose to climb a similar staircase like this too”
Japan’s own Minister of Digital Affairs, Taro Kono, responded to this:
I just wanted to go home quickly. https://t.co/5TJFgfKPIA

The analogue method often ends up being faster. It’s when you go to a restaurant and, instead of the server giving you the menu straight away, she asks the customer to access it through the QR Code using their cell phone. See also the minister who followed a profile of big breasts on Twitter.
