The portal ANN (Anime News Network) published a review about the Hyakkano’s pool ep where it ended up generating some anger among anime fans, which sparked a controversy.

The problem is that ANN praised the ep in the pool, when previously, it heavily criticized the fanservice in animes like Uzaki-chan and Fire Force, fans noticed this and were angry.

The creator of the review is called Nicholas Dupree, who mentions throughout his review about the disappearance of beach episodes in anime, and that in some series, they were portrayed as decadent, serving only as fanservice.

Although later on, he points out that in Hyakkano, the problem of one of the girlfriends is resolved in an intelligent way and that he was surprised by not expecting them to change the ”structure” of the episode on the beach.
