Scandal Breaks Guinness World Record for Longest-Running Female Musical Group with the same Members
Scandal recently broke the Guinness World Record for being the longest-running female musical group with the same members – 17 years! The four girls met at a dance and singing school in Kyobashi, Osaka, and formed the band on August 21, 2006, while they were still high school students.
After formation, the band kick-started their career with street performances at Osaka Castle Park and went on to perform in the US, France, and Hong Kong before debuting under a major record label in 2008.
Recently, Scandal held a concert to celebrate the 17th anniversary of their foundation at Nanba Hatch, the live venue in Osaka where the group performed their first show on a big stage.
Among their performances of their most popular songs throughout their career, the women announced their inclusion in the Guinness World Records book for being the longest-lasting female rock band with the same members.

Let’s see what each band member had to say about their latest achievement:
Guitarist Haruna: “Since we came together, we’ve had all kinds of fun and tough experiences, but we have the best band members and the best team in the world, and we have the best fans in the world, who create the best atmosphere with the brightest smiles. I hope we can see even more beautiful places together.”
Bassist Tomomi: “I’m really happy. I’m sure there were times when we left you alone. But we became the best band in the world, and you became the best fans in the world. Let’s walk with pride.”
Drummer Rina: “I’m so overwhelmed I can’t even put it into words. I’m 32 now. We’ve been together for a long time, but our first ‘Number One’ wasn’t about beating someone else; it was about the four of us being together, and that makes me very happy. Thank you for letting us step on stage as Scandal.”
Mami, the second guitarist: “We achieved this record together, as a member of Scandal, I feel so emotional for all the fans who have been by our side all this time.”
