What Major Moment Was Ruined in Anime?

Warning! SPOILERS below

Meliodas vs Escanor

Escanor and Meliodas in The Seven Deadly Sins

  • This was a highly anticipated fight by manga fans, but it was completely destroyed in the anime, turning the whole show into a laughingstock for a while.
  • The fight between Meliodas and Escanor severely damaged The Seven Deadly Sins‘ reputation.

Wonder Egg Priority

  • You could already tell the ending wasn’t going to work based on how some themes were being handled, but the finale was just a disaster.

Miku’s Confession to Futaro in The Quintessential Quintuplets

confeissao da Miku Gotoubun no Hanayome

  • It was a perfect way to handle it, considering she’s a quiet, introspective character. But then it was basically like: “No, I was pointing to my sisters”…

Battle Royale Arc in Index Season 3

Index 3 battle royale arc

  • This arc was supposed to be an epic brawl, but they completely ruined the season.

The Promised Neverland

  • I’m still upset about this. I was looking forward to the Goldy Pond arc, but it was simply skipped, and the final battle/revolution was shown as a montage.

Berserk voltando

  • It should’ve been an epic dark fantasy moment, but it got the worst CGI treatment possible.

The God of High School

The God of High School

  • It was insane how fast they rushed through the manhwa.

Vinland Saga

  • I almost dropped Vinland Saga when they didn’t show Leif and Thorfinn’s reunion. It had been built up the whole anime, and in the end, it happened off-screen and wasn’t even mentioned!
  • To be fair, it was like that in the manga too. But there were more urgent matters going on…

TBATE

Anime de The Beginning After The End é Popular no Japão Apesar da Animação

  • We’re only on episode 3, but TBATE is already… lol.

Darling in the Franxx

  • Having it as a longer single-season anime was a good choice. But why is it listed as having 24 episodes when nothing really happened after episode 15?

The Ending of Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night

Jellyfish Cant Swim in the Night

  • There was an insane dramatic moment, and then they threw it all away just to create a rushed, feel-good ending for everyone. They completely ruined an anime that had been incredible.

Overlord – Ainz Summons the Goblin Army

Overlord Goblin Army

  • The 3D animation just wasn’t up to par and ruined scenes that should’ve been epic.

Kyoto Arc in Negima

  • The way the anime ruined such an important manga arc shows that Xebec studio treated it like just another harem comedy like Love Hina, rather than the fantasy shounen it really is.

Episode 10 of BOFURI Season 2

Bofuri 2 ep 10

  • Silver Link had one job in this episode. But some idiot didn’t like the idea of separating the twins and deprived anime-only viewers of the most memorable moment when Maple Tree splits up.

Ken Kaneki vs Arima

Ken vs Arima anime

  • I’m pretty sure the anime skipped the first fight, and the second one had really mediocre animation.

Gantz (anime)

  • It was like flipping a coin — or rather, rolling a die.
  • A lot of scenes were awesome in the manga, but the anime exaggerated the direction and ruined them.
  • There’s a brutal, fast fight where one character wipes out a group, another joins in and gets shot; the fight should’ve lasted 15 seconds, but in the anime, the group resists ridiculously and the shooter struggles to win.

Tamaki Fanservice in Fire Force

Tamaki fire force

  • It completely ruins any attempt to treat Tamaki seriously by throwing in yet another absurd “lucky lecher” gag at the end of what was supposed to be her development episode.
They could’ve just not added the joke. But nooooo… Tamaki can’t have agency, even when trying to change. So frustrating.
  • It looked like they were finally moving past the silly fanservice after Rekka was revealed as a cultist. It felt like a turning point for both the series and her character. But then she’s back to losing her clothes in ridiculous ways. And I like fanservice — but this isn’t even funny or sexy.
  • Every scene in Fire Force where Tamaki randomly loses her clothes

Moonrise

  • It had all the potential to be an amazing anime, but turned into a total mess because of endless time skips.

Demon Lord Retry – Season 2

Demon Lord Retry 2

  • As an isekai fan, Season 2 felt like a crime against humanity. The first season wasn’t revolutionary, but it had fun characters and decent direction. The second season ruined everything.

So I’m a Spider, So What?

  • Almost every important light novel fight, every scene not involving “White”. They didn’t even try in the final hero battle — one of the worst animations I’ve seen, with a background that looked like a Morrowind texture.

Eren’s Speech at the End of Attack on Titan

eren speech

  • It had the potential to be super emotional, but the rushed pacing and dialogue killed the impact. It felt forced instead of powerful.

Clannad After Story

  • Unpopular opinion, but what should have been a somber ending with a message about moving on was replaced by one of the cheapest endings I’ve ever seen in anime.
  • I know people say it was “set up” earlier, but personally I think it made the series worse and less impactful.

Anything by Mitsuo Fukuda (especially Gundam SEED and Cross Ange)

  • In the U.S., people get annoyed when popular characters survive certain death.Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, Shinn Asuka, Mu La Flaga, Andrew Waltfeld, Meyrin Hawke, Tusk, and Momoka Oginome are the worst offenders.I like some of those characters. But Fukuda needs to think more about how they survive. It doesn’t have to feel like they’re made of steel — just make it more believable. In Cross Ange it kind of works because the show is self-aware. But SEED needed to take itself more seriously.

Sabagebu! – Survival Game Club

Sabagebu

  • The final episode is a wild and fun shootout, with almost every character giving their last effort. I was hyped and knew where it was headed… and then she just… gives up? What? No!
It could’ve ended Butch Cassidy-style, with her busting through the door, guns blazing, freeze frame. That would’ve been so much cooler.

U-20 Arc in Blue Lock

  • There’s no single moment (the goals were actually well animated), but the manga offers a completely different experience.

Pantry Scene in Sword Oratoria

  • I deeply hate whoever decided to throw that scene away. It was a heartbreaking episode and a great moment for Lefiya — and a rare one for Bete. And we got none of that in the anime.
  • Actually, the anime production as a whole was poor. It could really use a remake.

Kaiju No. 8

Comentando Kaijuu 8 ep 1

  • He’s in the hospital and it suddenly cuts to the cringiest humor ever animated.

Kokoro Connect

  • The very end of the anime was just… what the hell was that? What kind of character assassination was that? I wanted the tomboy to win, but not at the cost of what they did to the other girl.

  • And yes, the crap the production team pulled in real life is well-documented — and incredibly scummy.

Shirou vs Kirei in Heaven’s Feel 3

Shirou vs Kirei heavens feel 3

  • They cut a lot of the internal characterization and strategy of the fight that appears in the original. The fight also loses strength because much of the dynamic between them was cut throughout the trilogy.
