Gawr Gura Announces Graduation from Hololive EN

The VTuber community was hit with a heartbreaking announcement: Gawr Gura, one of Hololive EN’s most iconic and beloved talents, is officially graduating from the agency. The news came through a livestream titled “Important Announcement,” where Gura personally shared the reasons for her departure.

Debuting in September 2020, Gura quickly rose to fame with her signature charm and humor. Despite periods of inactivity, she remained the face of Hololive EN, drawing massive audiences at concerts, conventions, and even live sporting events.

In her announcement, Gura cited disagreements with the management and the company’s new direction as the reason for her graduation. Hololive confirmed the decision on social media. Her final livestream is set for May 1, 2025, marking the end of a significant era for both the agency and its fans.

Gura is not alone. Fellow EN members Nanashi Mumei, Ceres Fauna, Amelia Watson, and Tsukumo Sana have also announced their graduations. Meanwhile, on the Japanese side, long-time members like Murasaki Shion and Sakamata Chloe have stepped down as well, some due to health issues, others because of dissatisfaction with the agency’s current path.

Fans speculate that Cover Corp.’s increased focus on idol-style concerts, music releases, and sponsored projects, rather than traditional livestreams, may be influencing these exits.

Motoaki Tanigo, known as “Yagoo,” addressed the growing number of graduations in March, acknowledging the concerns and promising internal improvements to better support talents moving forward.

As Gura says goodbye, her legacy as a VTuber icon, especially in the western community, will continue to inspire for years to come.
