There Will Be No Third Season of Baka and Test Says Author
In the early 2010s, anime fans were introduced to the series Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts while the original novel by Kenji Inoue was still ongoing. The anime series and its sequel were well received, but a third season was never produced, and over a decade has passed since then.
Later, another story by Inoue, the manga Grand Blue Dreaming, received its first anime adaptation in 2018, gaining significant popularity as well. Now, six years later, a second season of Grand Blue Dreaming has finally been confirmed. However, even before anyone asked, Inoue took to social media to clarify that there will be no sequel for Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts.
In a series of posts on his X account (formerly Twitter) on September 29, Inoue commented on the announcement of the new season for Grand Blue Dreaming. In his first post, the author expressed surprise at the timing of the announcement:
“So, after six years, they announced season two of Grand Blue! Why now?!”

He then used the opportunity to put an end to any hopes for a Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts sequel:
“By the way, I’ll say this upfront! There will be no sequel to Baka and Test! Just getting a second season of Grand Blue is a miracle!”
It seems that not even the author expected that Grand Blue would receive a sequel, and he took the opportunity to inform fans that a third season of Baka to Test would be difficult to happen as well, but what he didn’t expect was the massive support from fans commenting on Baka to Test.
Inoue, when surprised by the amount of people who still love Baka to Test and would like to see the anime return, the author then says that he will see if he can do something related to the series, except for a third season of the anime, which is really very unlikely, but he mentions that people shouldn’t create expectations.
Baka to Test is one of the comedy animes that I had the most fun watching years ago, when I still didn’t really understand anime, it was one of the first ones I watched, and I remember laughing a lot with it.
