Fans Are Outraged with Oshi no Ko
So, what exactly happened? Aqua died; he ended up killing Kamiki, his and Ruby’s father, who was trying to kill Ruby, and took his own life in the process, leaving Ruby, Kana, and Akane behind.
Aqua’s death triggered an uproar among fans, who are extremely upset with this development, as nobody wanted Aqua to die. Let’s check out the comments:
- “There’s no more Aqua x Akane, Aqua x Kana, or Aqua x Ruby; all ships sank with Aqua.”
- “Reminder that Akasaka showed the ending to Mengo, and apparently it was quite shocking for her. I’d say this is still pretty tame, so yes, I’m still waiting for the crazy part to happen in the next chapters.”
- “I guess people just can’t handle tragic endings for main characters, right? Also, saying the ending is worse than JJK and MHA is obviously an exaggeration.”
- “Imagine losing the person you love twice. Yes, that’s how Ruby feels now.”
- “A terrible ending that didn’t make anything better, it only made everything worse.”
- “I think most people would accept Aqua’s death if it had been better developed. It was foreshadowed, but the execution was disappointing. They literally caught his accomplice trying to assassinate Ruby, and instead of going to the police, Aqua loses his mind and does this.”
- “I don’t like happy endings, but this one is just sad due to the poor execution. It felt like Akasaka tried to make his own Code Geass, but ended up like AoT or BF, a ‘grand finale’ with the MC dying in vain despite all the buildup. It’s unjustified; it’s tragic just for the sake of tragedy.”
- “People in the comments need to start realizing what type of ending suits the story. Some of you don’t even know what you want.”
- “So are we going down the ‘famous series with a bad ending’ route here too?”
- “What was the purpose of the MYSTERIOUS CROW GIRL?”
- “Dear people who liked the ending: I’m happy for you, but please don’t belittle those who didn’t by saying ‘you just can’t handle tragic endings.’ We can, just not poorly written ones… Aqua spent the ENTIRE plot learning to appreciate life, only to take his own.”
- “What’s with the horrible endings in manga and anime lately?”
- “This is probably the first manga where the main character dies TWICE!!!”
- “Possibly one of the worst chapters I’ve ever read, what was that?”
- “I hate this ending.”
- “Akane still shows us why she’s the best girl… I feel so bad for her; she lost her one true love.”
- “WE’RE GETTING AN ENDING WORSE THAN JJK, HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?”
- “At least this disaster ends in 2 chapters.”
- “Did he really die? OF COURSE NOT; he’ll come back like Gojo in the next chapter! TRUST ME!”
- “Do I personally like the ending? No. Do I think it fits with Aqua’s arc? No. Honestly, it feels like a Code Geass rip-off, with very little effort put into making it feel deserved. That said, big thanks to Aka.”
Now, let’s see how Japanese fans reacted to the recent developments in Oshi no Ko:
- “In winter seawater, wouldn’t the body bloat or get pecked by fish?”
- “There’s no way the body wouldn’t be damaged.”
- “A drowned body would be disgusting, right?”
- “All the characters involved found out about the death from the news, seriously, that’s absurd.”
- “Looks like Aka Akasaka really can’t wrap up a work properly.”
- “The hype around Oshi no Ko is going to end up as a collective embarrassment.”
- “There’s a scene where the characters find out on TV, but normally someone would inform them beforehand, right?”
- “It seems like Akane was the true heroine.”
- “This ending vibe, so it’s probably an ‘it was all a movie’ ending.”
- “A body that drifted 20 kilometers wouldn’t look so intact, so he can’t really be dead, right?”
- “I’m not sure if it’s Jujutsu or this one, but which will be the worst manga of recent years?”
- “If Aqua was supposed to die tragically, why didn’t they take Akane out midway through the story?”
- “The storyline involving Kamiki was a total failure.”
- “It would be better if a giant meteor just hit Earth and wiped out humanity.”
- “Isn’t this manga filled with problematic characters, except for Miyako and Mem-cho?”
