Japan: Woman walks on the train tracks at Shibuya Station
No one expected this one! And in today’s Weird Japan, a woman walks on the train tracks at Shibuya Station, Japan! The woman in her late 30s was spotted by a railway worker at JR Shibuya Station around 3:43 pm on a Wednesday afternoon on the tracks of the Yamanote Line.
Bad idea, right? An employee pressed the emergency stop button and called 110, Japan’s number for police emergency services.

Police officers were sent to the scene and, together with the railway workers, managed to pull the woman off the tracks and take her into custody. Rail service on the Yamanote and Saikyo lines was suspended for about 8 minutes and then resumed.
When asked why she was on track, she said, ”I asked for directions but the person I asked wasn’t helpful,” Hi? From the looks of it, this woman asked a station worker for directions, didn’t find the answer helpful, and so decided to walk the train tracks from Shibuya Station, that’s it. It just doesn’t get any weirder than a drunk politician doing push-ups on a moving train.
