What is Kyoufuu All Back after all?
Have you heard of Kyoufuu All Back? Do you know what Kyoufuu All Back is? Have you listened to Kyoufuu All Back? Have you experienced Kyoufuu All Back? Have you seen a cosplay of Kyoufuu All Back? Have you seen fan art or parodies of Kyoufuu All Back?
But what is Kyoufuu All Back, after all?
What is Kyoufuu All Back after all?
Comiket 102 recently took place, and besides the various doujins that are published there (you can see which series received the most doujins here), many people also attend in cosplay. I came across this one:
As soon as I saw this cosplay, I realized it wasn’t unfamiliar; I had seen the same scene and outfits before. So, I went on to research to find out what it was all about.
And I found the origin! A music video called “Kyoufuu All Back” was uploaded on the internet in March this year, using a vocaloid named Kaai Yuki to sing. You can watch the original clip below:
The video features an animation of a little girl walking and playing her flute, but what surprised me was the number of views this video had!
48 MILLION views! It’s no wonder this became so popular! But why did Kyoufuu All Back go viral? Well, besides the melody being quite pleasant (and short), the lyrics of the song are about a little girl who leaves home and encounters a powerful wind that blows her hair back—HER HAIRSTYLE WON’T STAY IN PLACE!
Clearly, people found this very cute! In addition to the girl trying to achieve her goal with her hair in place (impossible due to the strong wind), we have pigeons fighting in the street…
Various Parodies of Kyoufuu All Back
Due to its extreme popularity and fame, it’s evident that several parodies and versions of the song emerged. For example, Sushi Ramen (a great Japanese prank channel) made a live-action version of the song:
There’s a version by Bocchi (and here, instead of pigeons fighting, they hit Bocchi just like in the anime).
Do you know the streamer 8BitDrummer? He often plays his drums along with various songs that the audience requests, and they asked for Kyoufuu All Back. He found the video to be adorable:
The live-action versions aren’t over:
Pan Piano created a VERY SENSUAL thumbnail, but in the video itself, she’s well-dressed and performs her piano version:
Vtuber Sakura Miko did a cover of the song:
The popularity is so immense that Nissin made a commercial with Kyoufuu All Back, and this commercial airs on Japanese TV!
Hidden Meaning in the Music?
If you’ve truly read this post and listened to the song, you’ll notice it’s quite cheerful, right? But analyzing the lyrics, you’ll see that it tells a not-so-happy situation.
Japanese people love creating songs with cheerful rhythms and even featuring cute girls singing and dancing, but the lyrics can be hardcore depressive.
As I mentioned below, the point that stood out the most to me in the lyrics of the song is the fact that the girl goes out and the strong wind blows her hair back.

However, reading the lyrics, you can interpret that it talks about a person having a bad day, someone who didn’t want to leave the house:
“As soon as I step outside, it’s all over, despite the clear weather, I can’t move forward, the wind is too strong, I’m just going to die” and other lines like: “I want to bury myself underground, that’s all it seemed I was thinking.”
So, you can interpret the song as being about a negative person who even before leaving home believes everything will be bad, seeming like a person with anxiety and such. This lyrical analysis I found on the “A Border Mind” channel.
