Girl Challenges Boy to Steal Her from Boyfriend in Watashi no koto Netotte Misete

Recently, I discovered another non-adult manga that is consistently published and features NETORARE as one of its central themes – the famous genre everyone loves, right? This time, the manga is called Watashi no koto Netotte Misete, authored by Kuga Tsuniya.

The story follows Kurashiro Shion, a pathetic high school boy hopelessly in love with his classmate, Kira Hinano. She’s one of the most popular girls in their class and absolutely stunning.

The two become friends and even go on a date where Shion confesses his feelings for her. Kira smiles upon hearing his confession, admitting she suspected he would confess. She responds by saying she likes him too.

A happy ending? Not quite. That’s when Kira reveals she already has a boyfriend. Shion begins crying in front of her, but Kira asks if he’s giving up on her. When he says he doesn’t want to, she challenges him with the words:

By Chapter 2, the netorare begins. Hiding in Kira’s closet, Shion secretly watches and hears the girl he loves with her boyfriend.

But he still refuses to give up on her!

Honestly, I’m extremely confused about the direction this manga is taking. I don’t fully understand Watashi no koto Netotte Misete yet, nor Kira’s intentions in creating this entire situation.
