Oshi no Ko Theory: Ruby and Aqua are Gods and everything is a game

Oshi no Ko Theory: Ruby and Aqua are Gods and everything is a game

This Oshi no Ko Theory says that Ruby and Aqua are really gods, that all we see is a game to determine love and lies, and how humanity is seen.

This is a theory made by a fan and attention, there will be spoilers here for those who are only in the anime. This Oshi no Ko theory about “Love and Lies” was posted on Reddit by user Bri_kun.

Oshi no Ko Theory: The Game of Love and Lies

Let’s see what the Oshi no Ko theory written by Bri_kun says.

Remember the first episode when Ruby and Aqua pretend to be deities to stop Miyako from spreading Ai’s secret? This theory says that everything Ruby said is true.

Ruby is the incarnation of Amaterasu and Aqua of Tsukuyomi and the two are currently on a challenge being guided by the god Yatagarasu.

A break to talk about Japanese mythology. Izanagi and Izanami are the Gods responsible for creating all of Japan.

Amaterasu is a goddess who was born from Izanagi’s left eye, her brother Tsukuyomi was born from his right eye, which is why they have a star in only one eye.

The three children of Izanagi and Izanami (Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Susano) are called “The 3 Precious Children”, the title of the anime “Oshi no Ko”, has several meanings in Japanese.

It can mean: “Precious Son”, “Idol Children”, “Favorite Idol”, it is a reference to the “3 Precious Sons”.

The 3rd son, Susano, was born from Izanagi’s nose (whether he is in the Oshi no Ko story nobody knows yet).

The True Story of Oshi no Ko

The theory goes that Izanagi feels disgusted with humanity and the entertainment industry, and then he says, “Love is a lie, humans with pure talent with dreams are better off dead before they are tainted by others.”

But Izanami says:

“Lying is love, lying is trying to love others despite being stained, it’s the ultimate form of love.”

To settle this argument, Izanagi and Izanami decide to play a game to prove whether “Love is a lie” or “Lie is love”.

The game is as follows.

Izanami was reborn on earth as Hoshino Ai, while Izanagi was reborn as Ruby and Aqua’s father (I’ll refer to him as “Izanagi reincarnated” instead of using his current name).

The game consists of Ai proving that “Lying is love” before she becomes an adult (i.e. before reaching her 20s).

To win, Ai has to genuinely say “I love you” to someone, and that person must genuinely say “I love you” back.

If Ai fails, Ruby and Aqua’s Father wins, he kills Ai and declares that “Love is a lie and mankind is evil”. To ensure the game is played fairly, Yatagarasu will be the referee.

First Game Result

Yatagarasu declares that the first game was inconclusive!

When Ai was about to become an adult, turning 20, not to mention someone she genuinely loved. Reincarnated Izanagi decided that she had already lost and killed her prematurely.

However, to her surprise, Ai genuinely said “I love you” in her last moments to her children, according to the rules of the game, the twins should genuinely tell Ai back that they loved her, which did not happen.

Since the reincarnated Izanagi killed Ai prematurely and the two were close to winning the game, Yatagarasu decided that this game was inconclusive.

A new match should be held!

The Second Game

Yatagarasu then decides that there will be a second match, and the rules are as follows:

Aqua and Ruby are the two precious children of the gods (Oshi no Ko), they will have until they are 20 years old to prove that “Lie is love” or “Love is a lie”.

The color in their eyes means the route or path they are currently on. The white star means they are on the path of “Lying is love”.

But when the black star is in their eyes it means they are on the other path, that “Love is a lie”.

But who is Yatagarasu?

During this Oshi no Ko theory, we mentioned Yatagarasu several times, but who is Yatagarasu?

Yatagarasu is associated with deities and is considered a messenger or spirit guide. In Japanese mythology, Yatagarasu is believed to appear at important times to provide guidance or signal a path. He is also often associated with divine events or interventions in human affairs.

For those who are only in the anime, there is a very mysterious character nicknamed “Crow Girl” by fans who knows absolutely everything, knows about reincarnations, knows what Ruby and Aqua should do, knows about Ai’s destiny among many things.

And every time she appears, there are crows surrounding her, Yatagarasu is a mythological creature from Japanese folklore. She is often depicted as a three-legged crow. The name “Yatagarasu” means “eight-feathered crow” in Japanese.

So because of that fans believe that this girl is Yatagarasu and seeing this Oshi no Ko theory, she is watching the second round of the game, ensuring that everything happens according to the rules.

But at the end of the day this is just a simple theory made by fans!
