After Mangaka’s Death, NTV Announces New Rules for Live-Action Adaptations
NTV will focus on revising the adaptation process, especially during the pre-production phase. The team will gain a deeper understanding of the work’s worldview and setting through online meetings with the original creators.
A year before production begins, the team and the original creators will collaborate on a production plan. Team members will also consult a discussion guide when communicating with all parties involved to streamline the production process.
The company will review the work and recruitment process to ensure that all employees are not overburdened with excessive workloads.
Communication and transparency between departments will be enhanced with more frequent reports, ensuring that senior staff are educated on how to best address issues and questions that arise.
NTV will ensure that all production team members, including those outside the company, are familiar with NTV’s Social Media Policy, which includes guidelines advising caution in social media use.
A “Social Media Crisis Response Team” will be established to handle emergencies, including measures to protect staff from online harassment with consultation from medical and legal professionals.
Finally, the company will improve the training of human resources staff involved in productions. Producers and production staff will be trained in the necessary skills and experience to handle emerging situations, with guidance from veteran producers.
Follow-up meetings will be conducted to ensure producers are on track with their training. The training will also include lessons on the aforementioned social media strategies and involve seminars from outside experts, original creators, and producers.
