Mai Shiranui Casual Cosplay in Street Fighter 6 Take Over the Internet
Recently, SNK’s Mai Shiranui joined Street Fighter 6 as a guest character, making her a playable fighter in Capcom’s latest installment. And now, she’s trending online thanks to a specific animation that has inspired numerous fan arts and cosplays across the internet.
Mai Shiranui Casual Cosplay in Street Fighter 6 Are Going Viral
I haven’t played Street Fighter 6 (the last one I played was Street Fighter IV, and even then, only briefly). So if I get anything wrong, feel free to correct me in the comments.
In the character selection screen, when you hover over a fighter, they perform a short animation. Mai’s animation shows her sitting in a chair, stretching casually while leaning back.
This relaxed pose, along with her casual outfit and smooth movements, has inspired cosplayers and artists to create stunning illustrations and cosplays. Below, you can check out some of the best Mai Shiranui casual cosplays from Street Fighter 6.
And the best Mai Shiranui’s Casual Cosplays in my opinion:
While browsing through cosplays of this version of Mai, I came across a comment that perfectly sums up why this look has captivated so many people:
“This is breaking a lot of people because it feels very intimate. This is how Mai Shiranui would look most of the time if she were your wife or girlfriend and you just got home from work. The very idea unlocks something primal in men.”
And that’s absolutely true. This isn’t the first time Mai has appeared in a casual outfit. In SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, when players unlock her ending, she wakes up from a nightmare and accidentally punches Andy Bogard (her boyfriend). In that scene, she’s wearing the same casual outfit.
So as you can see, this is officially Mai’s relaxed, at-home outfit. SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy was released in 2018, but very few people realized she wore this same outfit in the game.
