Jump wants to know the names of the pirate sites you use
Jump, through its MangaPlus platform, is conducting a survey with its users that will run until September 4th. The questionnaire has questions regarding what fans think could be improved in the service, the languages in which the mangas are available and also how much you are willing to pay for mangas.
But there are 3 questions that caught the attention of fans and all involve pirated manga websites. For example, when you get to question number 11, Jump asks you if you read mangas on pirated websites.
You can give 1 of the 4 available answers which are: “Always”, “Occasionally”, “Rarely” and “Never”, if you answer that you read manga on pirated sites regularly, Jump then asks you for the names of the pirated sites you use:.
Obviously many fans noticed this question, since there have been several recent reports of Japanese and Korean publishers shutting down pirate sites and some of the owners even going to jail.
Question number 13 aims for Jump to understand why people use pirate sites to read manga, and some of the options are because “pirate sites update quickly”, “there are more manga available there”, “more languages” among others.
Let’s see how people reacted?
“Do they really think I’m going to sacrifice free manga for them?”
“Just answer with Crunchyroll”
“This is like Nintendo asking you what emulator you use to play Pokémon or Mario”
“They want us to admit to what they already know, and if they don’t know, they have a bigger problem than they think”
“Just answer yes and give the link to Crunchyroll’s WayBack Machine from 2006”
