The anime adaptation of The Idolmaster Million Live will tell the story of the 39 new idols introduced in the series and their activities and growth at 765 Theater Agency, while focusing on main characters Mirai Kasuga, Shizuka Mogami, and Tsubasa Ibuki.
The anime is scheduled to begin airing in October 2023, but there is a planned three-part theatrical preview in Japan starting on August 18, during which all 12 episodes of the anime will be shown in advance in Japanese theaters.
And to celebrate the start of theatrical preview, a promotional campaign for The Idolmaster and Cheer Drive was announced on July 29th. The campaign will run from August 18th to October 31st, while registration to participate is now open.
The campaign consists of applicants decorating their cars with promotional decals provided by campaign partner Cheer Drive and essentially just driving around to contribute to promoting the series. Those who want to participate can choose from three available plans that vary in price and size of the decals.
The ”Mini Plan” which includes a small sticker on the back has a participation fee of around $17.5 and by reaching 500km mileage in the campaign you can win an idolmaster key ring.
The complete rear decal plan costs around $46.7 and the rewards for a 500km drive are a leather key chain and an original idolmaster car sunshade.
The same rewards can be earned for a distance of 300 km on the ”three-surface plan”, which has a participation fee of around US$57.8.
”They just sold the right to advertise (laughs)”

Many fans found the idea of the campaign interesting and the rewards attractive to the point of trying to participate in the Idolmaster Million Live campaign. Others felt that something was wrong with the idea, as it basically boils down to fans of the series paying a fee to make the deal in favor of publicity.
Taking fuel expenses and time spent driving into account, as well as the participation fee, a key ring and umbrella just don’t seem good enough.
