Gen Urobuchi and his Characters who use Spears
I was browsing anime forums when I came across a thread where an otaku pointed out a coincidence that I had never noticed before. Gen Urobuchi is a well-known author for having created incredible scripts for games, animes and mangas.
He was responsible for writing Fate/Zero, Madoka Magica, Saya no Uta, Psycho-Pass among many other works, but I want to highlight here a “coincidence” between Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica.
Gen Urobuchi and his Characters who use Spears
THIS POST HAS SPOILERS FOR FATE AND MADOKA
In Fate/Stay Night, in the Unlimited Blade Works route we have a scene where the Lancer’s master orders him to kill himself with a command, the scene becomes even more emblematic if you have watched Fate/Zero first.
Because in Fate/Zero Lancer also ends up killing himself in a very heavy scene, so when watching Fate/Zero and then the Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works anime, you will see the two Lancers killing each other.
It’s worth noting that Fate/Stay Night was not written by Gen Urobuchi, but he did write Fate/Zero, Gen Urobuchi also wrote Madoka Magica, a 2011 anime about magical girls that ends up taking a rather dark turn.
And among the 5 magical girls presented, we have one who uses a spear as a weapon, Sakura Kyouko, and among the deaths during the anime, she is the only one who ends up sacrificing herself!
So we have two series written by Gen Urobuchi in which the end of the character who uses a spear is death by sacrifice! I don’t know if Gen Urobuchi wrote any other character in another series who uses a spear and kills himself too, so if he does, comment below.
