Crowd Watch Akihabara Toranoana Closing for the Last time
We previously reported here that Toranoana would close 6 of its 7 stores, including the classic Akihabara store, leaving only one open that is aimed at the female audience.
The reason for the closure is changes in the way the public is buying doujins and manga, digital sales are surpassing physical sales, Toranoana sells well through its website and physical stores were not seen as necessary.
In addition, the pandemic helped to disrupt the operation of these stores. Anyway, the Toranoana of Akiba was closed, and for now it’s goodbye.
Because it is an important otaku spot, a crowd flocked to the store to follow its last open day until the moment of its official closing.
