Japan: This humble bus serves great ramen
There is an old, rusty bus that serves beautiful ramen in the city of Sano, Tochigi Prefecture. Of course, at first glance, a bus in this state wouldn’t make a good first impression, right?
Japan: This humble bus serves great ramen
But this finished bus is actually a restaurant that serves ramen that is well known among locals. Its name is Ka-chan Ramen and it is open only on Friday and Saturday nights, from 6pm to 1am.
And this is the inside of the bus, a very cozy place for cold nights. There’s a tatami table at one end and some seating along a counter, like you’d find at many ramen restaurants.
There is also a variety of ramen on the menu with a wide range of prices, as well as a nice selection of snacks.
And the ramen? Well, it had a clear broth and all the classic toppings of chashu pork, menma bamboo shoots, steamed naruto fish cake, and scallions.
What sets the ramen apart is the very smooth soy sauce broth and irregularly shaped noodles. The texture of the noodles matches the broth and other toppings. It’s a light ramen too.
It’s really hard to believe that a bus would actually be a restaurant that serves ramen like that, isn’t it?
