Author Reveals That Parallel Paradise MUST Have Adult Scenes in All Volumes

The mangaka Okamoto Lynn is truly famous for his work Elfen Lied, which premiered in 2004 and became a sensation due to its story and the sheer amount of violence it contains.

However, he is also known for creating manga that include a lot of ecchi content, such as Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou, which he co-created with Mengo Yokoyari (of Oshi no Ko) and Parallel Paradise.

And it’s Parallel Paradise that we’re going to talk about here. This is a super raunchy manga that features many “copulation” scenes, and Okamoto Lynn has revealed that, for him, “it’s unacceptable to have a single volume without a copulation scene,” even if that disrupts the story!

What is Parallel Paradise about?

Parallel-Paradise

A normal day at school takes a strange turn for Tada Youta when a bizarre apparition pushes him out of a third-floor window. He wakes up in a fantasy world unlike any other. Not only do dragons and knights exist, but every inhabitant of this world is a voluptuous woman!

No man has been seen in the kingdom for thousands of years, so Youta is about to get very, very lucky. Whether Youta actually died or was transported to this place for mysterious, unknown reasons… either way, this is his version of Paradise!

Then, Okamoto Lynn gave the following explanation as to why every volume of his manga Parallel Paradise must have a “love” scene.

“I’m currently trying to draw an erotic manga, so I think it’s unacceptable to go an entire volume of a manga without a ‘love’ scene. That’s why, when it seems like a volume is about to end without one, I suddenly insert it. Honestly, I have a lot of fun drawing it.”

He later added:

“Including at least one ‘love’ scene per manga volume isn’t something my editor asked me to do; it’s a rule I imposed on myself. If I were responsible for the erotic content of the magazine, in theory, I should include eroticism every week, but that would ultimately impede the progress of the story, so I gave up on that idea. When a ‘love’ scene suddenly appears in the series, you can be sure that almost an entire volume has passed since the last one.”

Basically, even if he has to delay the story sometimes, his manga must have a scene like that. Let’s see how the Japanese reacted to this revelation:

  • “The author himself declared that Parallel Paradise is an erotic manga, haha.”
  • “A true example of professionalism. Baku Yumemakura said something similar when he started serializing Beast Hunter. It’s only natural since it’s a commercial work.”
  • “One day, I hope he returns to Nononono. That abrupt conclusion didn’t satisfy any of the fans.”
  • “It’s the only work of his where nobody dies.”
  • “Well, if there was no sex in that world, that would mean death, right?”
  • “I thought this was an impressive tweet, and when I checked, it was from the person who makes Parallel Paradise.”
  • “Parallel Paradise has an incredibly interesting story, and it makes me laugh, so it’s a good manga.”
  • “Mangaka really aren’t normal, and this is a great example of that.”
  • “There are times when any serious situation can suddenly transform completely into an adult scene, so that’s what he was talking about.”
