Lycoris Recoil: Problematic Eyecatch is Replaced

The problematic Eyecatch is replaced with Lycoris Recoil has been replaced! All episodes of the Lycoris Recoil anime feature “eyecatchs”, which are illustration cards that are more or less in the middle of the episode and that serve to pass a very beautiful art as well as call the commercials.

episode 11 of Lycoris Recoil features an eyecatch where Chisato and Takina appear smoking a spider lily, as you can see below:

This eyecatch became “controversial” because people on the production team themselves raised warnings of concern with cosplayers possibly wanting to mimic the scene above and smoke the real plant, which is toxic and can cause serious health problems.

So now the eyecatch has been completely removed from the anime. In a statement on the official website, the production committee was really worried about people imitating the eyecatch scene, so they’ve already replaced the illustration.

Some staff members reacted to the change, Imigimuru said, “It’s a shame because it was an eyecatch that I really liked.”
