Heavenly Delusion Author Uses a Calendar for the Story

Heavenly Delusion was one of the best animes of 2023. With a total of 13 episodes, its crazy plot left many people confused as it alternated between what was happening with the children at the school and with Kiruko and Maru in a Japan destroyed by some catastrophe.

There hasn’t been an announcement for a second season yet, and the manga is still ongoing, having started in 2018. The manga’s author, Ishiguro Masakazu, revealed that he keeps a calendar of events from Heavenly Delusion so he doesn’t lose track.

Unfortunately, I’ll have to give a small spoiler for Heavenly Delusion here. So, if you’ve watched the anime, you’re safe, but if you know nothing about the series, I recommend watching the anime or reading the manga first.

The story of Heavenly Delusion alternates between two periods: the past, featuring the children at the school, and the future, showcasing the destroyed Japan where we follow Kiruko and Maru’s journey.

To stay on track with the events, the author Ishiguro Masakazu keeps two calendars: one for the past and one for the future, where he writes down the days and times of important events in the story.

As you can see, he has one calendar for 2024 and another for 2039. I won’t translate all the events marked there since they’re related to recent developments in the manga, but I will spoil what that red drop means.

Tengoku Daimakyou FINAL

SPOILER: That red drop represents Kiruko’s menstruation. At a certain point in the manga, Kiruko begins menstruating. As we know, Kiruko is the “union” of Haruki’s brain with Kiriko’s body, so the author has been paying attention to this detail for the story.

The fact that the author keeps track of this kind of detail just drives fans even crazier because, after the last episodes of the anime, a popular fan theory emerged suggesting that Kiruko is pregnant! Let’s hope Heavenly Delusion returns soon with a second season, right?
