Cosplay 3D Scanner Studio: Being a cosplayer can be even more fun
The idea of cosplaying generally revolves around paying homage to a character you love, whether from movies, series, anime or games, it’s a way of showing love.
A Japanese telecommunications company called KDDI innovated the activity of making a cosplay by offering the Cosplay 3D Scanner Studio program that makes everything even more fun.
How does Cosplay 3D Scanner Studio work?
The idea of the program is to transform your real-world cosplay into a 3-D CG model. This is a set of mounted cameras that capture images of the cosplayer standing in the center, from a variety of heights and angles.
This data is then processed to produce a 3D model that can be viewed and shared via a mobile phone app. This way, you can add animation, backgrounds, and voice to the model using other tools.
The Cospkay 3D Scanner Studio will make its debut at the upcoming Comiket December 30th and 31st in Japan and KDDI will offer free sessions as a way to help promote its invention.
For the Cosplay 3D Scanner Studio to run, it only needs a space of two square meters, it can even be installed in your home.
The company responsible is also studying non-otaku ideas to offer other services such as wedding receptions or theme parks.
