People Are Angry With Inappropriate Acts With Figures In Ghibli Park
The Studio Ghibli park includes several life-size figures of characters from the studio and visitors can take pictures, but despite the family-friendly aspect of the place, some people end up doing unnecessary things.
Some visitors posted inappropriate photos with the figures online, the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper reported that photos circulating on social media show people touching the breasts of one of the female characters, taking pictures from under their skirts, among other things.
At a press conference, Aichi Governor Hideaki Omura said the following: “It is extremely regrettable,” he said, comparing the obscene photos to the destruction of property. “Ghibli Park is a place for adults and children to have fun while watching Ghibli movies. I don’t want people who do things that many people find offensive to come to the park.”
He went on to say that if the people who took the photos are identified, they will suffer “severe measures”, thus implying legal action. Studio Ghibli has not commented on the case, and this has angered some people who wanted a statement.
Studio Ghibli was pressured to speak out, but the most they said was that they would not comment on the case.
