Netflix decided to create an American version of Kakegurui
The Hollywood Reporter website announced that Simon Barry (responsible for Warrior Nun) and Boat Rocker Media will create an American version of Kakegurui, the name of the series will be “BET” and it will not be a faithful adaptation of the manga, but rather their version .
The story of BET will be as follows: the boarding school hierarchy is upended when Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student, arrives from Japan with a dark secret and skills at stake that puts her in the crosshairs of the powerful Student Council. Ultimately, her quest for revenge threatens to completely upend the school’s status quo.
Did you understand that Yumeko arrives in the USA and will be in an American school? The main actors have also been defined: Miku Martineau, Ayo Solanke, Eve Edwards, Clara Alexandrova, Hunter Cardinal, Anwen O’Driscoll, Aviva Mongillo, and Ryan Sutherland
The series has already started production in Toronto, Canada. Barry is responsible for developing, writing and directing the series, in total, this series will have 10 episodes.
Seeing fans’ reactions on the internet, no one is putting faith in an American version of Kakegurui, we’re just going to wait and see what the look will be like and also if we’ll have faces.
It is worth mentioning that Kakegurui had Japanese live-action adaptations, two live-action series, two films and a live-action series of the spin-off Kakegurui Twin.
