Illustrator is Criticized for Drawing Herself with a Transparent Skirt
You may have seen the controversy that Love Live was involved in in 2020 when it collaborated with Nishiura Mikan to promote Mikans. At the time, a banner with Chika holding one of the fruits was placed in a shopping mall and generated many complaints due to the “transparent skirt” case.
To explain better, the complaints were more focused on the fact that Chika’s skirt was designed in a way that was “transparent” and marked the girl’s crotch, with many claiming that real skirts did not have that curve that was present in the official art.
There was a lot of criticism that this was sexualization of minors and the campaign ended up being canceled, and well, now in 2024 the subject is being talked about again online due to a certain illustrator.
Illustrator is Criticized for Drawing Herself with a “Transparent Skirt”
On November 23, an illustrator named Pen ended up going viral when she posted a photo that showed the illustrator and the illustration side by side, something that many female artists have been doing on Twitter.
As you may have seen, on the left side we have a photo of Pen and on the left side an art she made of it, and well, you can see that she drew the famous “lines” on the skirt of her illustrated version, making this another case of a “transparent skirt”.
Obviously because of this, some people started to criticize her, just imagine a woman drawing these marking lines on her skirt:
- Once again, the fabric is sticking to the crotch.
- The color of the legs is different from the shoulders, which is scary. The abdomen faces forward, but the chest is tilted to the side. It seems the ribs are twisted, making it look quite inhuman. Based on the way the muscles are, it’s clear the chest is surgically enhanced.
- Come to think of it, I rarely see male illustrations where the genitals are clearly visible.
- If we’re going to start talking about this, people with anime eyes like these don’t exist in real life either, so that should also be an issue, right?
- I think the 2D in anime and manga is meant to supplement what can’t be done in 3D. Why do people get mad when it doesn’t align with reality? Even this person’s icon is of a cat that doesn’t exist in real life.
- What’s the problem, anyway? LOL
- They really seem to enjoy deliberately drawing women in a sexual way; it’s disgusting.
- This is gross.
- It’s static electricity. Looks embarrassing.
- Who cares? Let people draw what they want.
- what’s going on? Complaining about an illustration?
- I think they’re pointing a fan at the crotch.
- I think this is genuinely weird. The same goes for exaggerated breasts.
- Everyone’s misunderstanding; this is just describing its own state.
- Another idiot who can’t tell the difference between reality and fiction.
- A layman’s question, but why do anime illustrations seem to generate super-strong static electricity all the time?
- Fabric clinging this clearly to the lower body is typical of someone with an arched back, protruding belly, and tight thighs. This person probably has sagging hips and back pain
- A bit late, but… No one has been able to clearly articulate what’s “wrong” with this, right?
- People who always complain about illustrations never draw, do they?
Pelo visto nem mesmo ilustradoras mulheres tem passe livre para se desenhar com uma “saia transparente”.
