Chapter 159 of Oshi no Ko and their villains

Chapter 159 of Oshi no Ko and their villains

SPOILERS! Yesterday, Chapter 159 of Oshi no Ko was released, bringing some incredible twists and a few situations that left me somewhat disappointed. In my opinion, Aka Akasaka didn’t succeed in creating well-developed villains.

Chapter 159 of Oshi no Ko and their villains

Chapter 159 of Oshi no Ko picks up right where the previous chapter left off: Ruby opens the door, and Nino stabs her. However, something feels off. When Nino pulls out the knife, it’s clean, and her former boss appears behind her, knocking her to the ground.

It’s soon revealed that everyone was expecting Nino’s attack. The “Ruby” was actually Akane in disguise, wearing protection to avoid getting hurt.

Next, the full truth comes out: Nino was once part of Ai’s group under the same agency, and she was planning to kill Ruby, Ai’s daughter. We also learn that Nino was in a relationship with one of her fans, Ryosuke Sugano, the man who murdered Ai in the first episode.

Moreover, Nino had “ordered” Ryosuke to die, and he made the effort to do hanging himself after killing Ai. This confirms that both Nino and Ryosuke became obsessive fans of Ai to the point of ending her life.

The chapter then shifts back to the B-Komachi concert, where Ruby, Kana, and Mem-cho are performing:

Meanwhile, Aqua is with his father, Hikaru Kamiki, who watches Ruby’s performance with the signature black stars in his eyes. Aqua accuses Kamiki of lying to protect himself, and the chapter ends with Kamiki responding: “What are you talking about?”

Since the beginning of the series, we’ve been led to believe that Aqua and Ruby’s father was the main villain, as he ordered Ai’s death. In earlier chapters, Aqua presents Kamiki with a recording that leads him to convince Nino to surrender to the police.

I thought this had already established that Kamiki had “repented” and that Nino was the real villain. However, now it seems there’s another plot twist, suggesting that Kamiki was the true villain all along?

This kind of plot twist leaves me a bit disappointed with how the villains are being portrayed, but let’s see if the next chapter brings something surprising. Chapter 160 of Oshi no Ko will be released on the 11th.
