Seiyuus call on Japanese government to protect against AI. Artificial Intelligence is dominating! The Arts Workers Japan group, made up of seiyuus, musicians and other artists, has called on the Japanese government to take measures to protect the rights and activities of artists in light of the increase in AI-generated content.

Art Workers Japan presented the views of freelancers in different areas to highlight the impact of artificial intelligence on artists’ activities.

One of the association’s seiyuus noted that the AI is able to replicate the artists’ expressions and performances after analyzing their voices for a few hours. Another artist in the group also said the AI could violate copyright by reusing works without their creators’ knowledge or permission.

Actor Sato Hiroshi shared his thoughts on the drop in quality of performers due to AI comforts and preferences. The actor said relying too heavily on AI to create dangerous-looking sequences would make it difficult for him to maintain or pass on his professional skills.

Morisaki Megumi, leader of the Arts Workers Japan group, said rules should be established to protect the rights and activities of artists, seiyuus and musicians against AI-generated content, and that his group has filed a request with the government to take legislative action in this regard.

Megumi also demanded that AI users reveal the source of the data they use and pay the original creators. The actress stated that seiyuus, musicians and other artists should have rights to their images, voices and performances, and that these rights should be protected by law.
