Rumiko Takahashi awarded French Knight title, the creator of InuYasha, Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, and Ranma 1/2, is one of Japan’s most popular and successful mangaka.

Recently, Takahashi was honored at a ceremony held at the French ambassador’s residence in Japan, where she was awarded the title of “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres,” or “Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.”

This prestigious award is granted by the French Ministry of Culture to individuals who have made notable achievements in the fields of art and literature, either through their creative work or through their popularization of these fields in France or around the world. “I am grateful for this tremendous honor,” Takahashi said in a statement released by her publisher, Shogakukan. “It brings me great joy to know that my stories, based on everyday life in Japan, are appreciated by the people of France.”

She also stated, “I’ll accept this award as an incentive to continue working hard on my manga.” It’s pretty cool that Rumiko Takahashi awarded French Knight title, isn’t it?
