Manga and Webtoon Dominate the Comics Industry
Manga and Webtoon dominate the Industry while Marvel and DC Comics are behind according to Europe Comics chart. It’s no wonder the extreme success that oriental titles have had in recent years around the world.
The Europe Comics group created a chart showing this dominance, the chart shows the approximate revenue of the top 10 publishers between the years 2020 and 2021.
As you can see from the table below, the top 4 are Japanese publishers that publish manga, we have Shueisha in first, Kodansha in second, Kadokawa in third followed by Shogakukan.
Below them we have the Korean Kakao and Naver Corporation with their webtoons, and just after the Japanese and Korean publishers we have Marvel and DC that publish comics of iconic heroes like Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc.
Because the research was done in Europe, some giant publishers are missing, as pointed out, we have Viz Media, which has also been selling extremely well.
But anyway, this is yet another graphic that shows how manga and webtoons are dominating the industry.
