Japanese Media Tried to Blame Anime and Manga for Assassination of Former Prime Minister of Japan
Again the Japanese media tried to blame anime and manga for some barbaric crime that has occurred in the country, and this time they tried to blame anime and manga for the murder of former Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe.
When a person commits some kind of crime, for example, he went out and killed a number of people, or something like that, the criminal’s house is searched and the Japanese media always tries to see if the thief has any manga, games or anime to blame in their articles and this continues to this day.
Shinzo Abe, former prime minister of Japan, was assassinated by Tetsuya Yamagami, a 41-year-old unemployed man who made his own gun and shot the politician.

The Sankei News website published an article saying that the police went to Tetsuya Yamagami’s apartment, searching the entire place and taking notebooks and other belongings from him.
The Sankei News then highlights that some novels were found that had weapon descriptions, the article reads as follows:
“Police took several novels from the suspect’s house, there was a scene where a gun was used” and adds: “Police believe that the suspect having read these novels developed an obsession with committing crimes with a gun”.
It is worth mentioning that anime and manga were not found in the criminal’s apartment. This Sankei News article didn’t please some Japanese anime fans, who already know how the mainstream media works there.
This Japanese man translated what Sankei meant with his article:

“Probably if there were only newspapers and TV they wouldn’t say anything”
“Why would he look in novels if he said he looked it up on the internet? I don’t understand”
“Novels are not good, they can give birth to bad people, so let’s abolish them. Let’s abolish short stories in newspapers too”
“I think the problem was more about him knowing where the politician was and the low security than hunting gun books. If we don’t pay attention to that next time it should happen again.”
Well, once again the Japanese media tried to blame anime and manga and if you really found anime, manga or games in his house, be sure that newspapers like Sankei and others would happily print it.
